Privacy and personnal data
The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is applicable to all sectors and to all member states. This regulation establishes the principles and rules on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of their personal data.
A crucial challenge
Big data, databases, cloud, profiling, ... information and communication technologies as well as the digital economy generate and process an enormous amount of data, most of which have a personal character.
Public authorities have decided, rightfully so, that those developments required a strong and coherent legal framework, backed by strong enforcement, in order to guarantee everyone's rights to personnal data protection.
However, the application of the law remains a complex exercise.
The EQUAL team has a keen understanding of the difficulites encountered by actors in the field and is dedicated to help businesses as well as public authorities to comply with EU regulation.
